Where do I get keys?

Keys are available in a couple spots, and they’re available for anyone who supports the project on one of our subscription platforms for at least $1 USD. Too easy! Check out our support page if you’re interested.

How do I install new keys?

The easiest way is to click the key button on the bottom of the launcher, and then click the “Add Key” button. That will bring up a file browser window where you can select your key file.

The launcher is giving me a strange error message. What does it mean?

The launcher will give useful error messages if there’s something you can do about it. If there’s a very strange error message (example: “Error in Pineapple Pizza”) you should let Skunkfrakker know how you were able to make that error come up. Those are internal problems, or server-side problems. If you can take an action to cause one to come up, we would like to know about it!

How do I remove a program I have installed?

It’s easy! Just delete the folder for the program from the Launcher’s “Application” directory. You can navigate to it manually, or click the wrench button to browse directly to the folder of the program on your hard disk. From there, just go up one directory, and then remove the folder you were just inside.

Once you’ve deleted the folder, you can either restart the launcher, or click the “Refresh local” button in settings to remove it from the menu.

What does the “beta code” option in settings do?

This is an easy way for us to distribute limited betas, or special debug versions of software if you’re having a problem. If you are given a beta code to try, you simply put the code in the text entry field, and click “Apply and Save.” You will find that a new program will show up in the top of the Downloads area for you to get if the code is valid.

How do I reset my settings to their defaults?

It’s actually pretty easy! Just delete the launcher settings file. You’ll need to re-add your keys, but if the launcher doesn’t detect a settings file it will make a fresh one with default settings. The launcher settings file is in /SaveData/Preferences/LauncherDatabase.horse
