The Besti SDK CPU Marker is a simple tool to help users with slower computers (including Oculus Quest) enjoy your content as much as possible. If you have created an object that contains many small objects, complicated physics, running a complicated animation, or is otherwise something you feel your scene can live without, you can use this tool to hide this object when Besti is run on lower-end hardware.
A best practice with this tool is to put it on as many objects that you can do without as possible while still retaining the enjoyment of your scene. If people can’t run your creation at a playable framerate, they will probably dislike it and not get content from you in the future.
This is a very similar tool to the Graphics Quality Marker tool. The difference is that this one uses the CPU setting instead of the Graphics setting.
How to use
- Add the CPU Marker tool to the game object you want to hide.
- Make any appropriate selections from the Options section near the bottom of the tool.
Section Information
Options
The options section contains 1 part:
- The Hide On Potato and Quest Only checkbox
The Hide on Potato and Quest Only checkbox determines the graphics settings this object should show on. This gives you an option of how optional the object really is.
- If it is unchecked, the object will show on High and Ultra CPU settings only. It will be hidden on Oculus Quest, Potato, and Medium.
- If it is checked, the object will show on Medium, High, and Ultra CPU settings. It will be hidden on Oculus Quest and Potato.
